An Extraordinary Meeting of the Full Council was held on Friday 20th March 2020 in order for the Parish Council to respond to the coronavirus pandemic. The situation is changing daily and latest advice is to stay at home. We are closely monitoring and following Government advice and the current status of our facilities is as follows:
The Poplars Sports Ground
The whole of the Poplars Sports Ground, including the club house, bowls pavilion, grass pitches, archery, petanque, bowls green, 3G pitch and all other areas are now CLOSED until further notice.
Roberts Recreation Ground and The Grove
Following Government advice to close all playgrounds, Roberts Recreation Ground is now CLOSED. The Grove remains OPEN, but users are reminded of the government restrictions and must ensure they always keep 2 meters away from others and do not form gatherings.
Cemetery and Allotments
The Parish Council received guidance from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) in accordance with the Local Government Association advice on April 2nd stating that
Crematoria and cemeteries should now be CLOSED to the public, except for funerals or burials. The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 came in to force on the 26 March 2020.
The allotments are still OPEN, however latest guidance from the National Allotment Association is
“We think that now is the time to consider working your plot in isolation i.e. not with household members and if you can stay away for a few weeks to do so.
If you are an allotment holder, please take some time to read and observe the guidance given by the association through the following link:

The Old School Building

All above decisions will be reviewed on a monthly basis
and may change with immediate effect if legislated by government.
A voluntary group has been set up via Burton Joyce Village Facebook to provide support to residents who have to self-isolate. If you have not already received a leaflet through your door, you will do shortly, with the name and contact number of a volunteer local to you. This is a hugely valuable resource to everyone in the village and sincere thanks are given to all those involved in setting up this group and to those who are volunteering for it. If you would like to make contact with the volunteers please email us and we will pass on your details.
