A New Dawn at BJPC
Well the “turbulence” is over. There is an new happiness, energy and purpose within the current 4 and new (ish) 4 Councillor Team to tackle the jobs that have never been done but need doing. With this enthusiasm we are now able to progress projects and plans faster and more purposefully than ever before. We have a useful make up of business, sales & marketing, accountancy, teaching, engineering people volunteering their skills to improve the facilities at Burton Joyce. This is backed up with the tremendous skills in Consultancy and Marketing of our Parish Clerk of 12 months and massive experience of Ground staff of many, many years !! Finishing the Year End Accounts for 2008/2009 and an excellent result from our internal Audit. The BJPC is now pushing hard at its next sets of objectives that it sets itself. Aims for 2009/2010 Each of the Committees has its own aims and goals but this year the burden of change falls on the : Amenities Committee to deliver the agreed plan and work for : · The Grove refit of Ł15 k to update—This has never been done before by The BJPC since it owned the land and involves a multi agency approach · The Roberts Recreation Playground total design, consultation and refitting of our aged park . This has not been done as an overhaul previously. It is a first for the BJPC on this scale and is likely to be in excess of Ł200k · Main aim is to increase revenue from the Poplars Sports Ground and reduce the amount of subsidy the BJPC contributes from its purse. · By renegotiating all club contracts from 1997 to ensure all items of use are covered and correct fees are being paid and where necessary reduce the subsidy to a level that is sustainable. In line with 2007 audit recommendations. · Making the Pavilions Room available for public hire by reducing planning restrictions imposed since its inception in 1997 · To look at ground capacity and ways to increase the usage by all clubs and new usage without additional repair fees. · Explore the possibility of an evening Youth Club at the Poplars Finance and General Purpose Committee FG&P continues to hone the auditing and financial planning for the BJPC and is making this information available on the new website it has created. . · Introducing new quality systems and procedures for handling internal audits, Councillor Co opting procedures and Freedom of Information requests.
We are well underway with our new aims and are pleased that the transformation of our services has been so rapid and ongoing within the last 4 months.
