Burton Joyce Pumping Station During July, we understand that the Department of the Environment undertook a test of the pumping station using a generator and were able to successfully test the pumping stations operation to full capacity. The Parish Council has been assured that significant steps have been taken towards resolving the legal issues that have been preventing the installation of the mains electric supply and the installation of the supply with the regional electric supplier should be in place from the end of august. |

Bus Plug updated! August 2009 28th 5.10pm On the 6th August, Notts County Councillor Richard Jackson, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport issued the following statement, "We made a manifesto commitment to remove the bus plugs, which currently prevent all traffic except buses, pedestrians and cyclists from entering Burton Road and Stoke Lane from the A612. We know that many residents are very unhappy that they can no longer directly access their homes. "The Conservatives have been in power for a couple of months now. During that time we’ve been examining the available options and taking advice around the Burton Road bus plugs. We’ve talked to residents too and we know that views on the bus plugs are divided. "It’s been made clear to us that central government would want to claim back the Ł7.5m they invested in the scheme if we were to completely undo it, not a good deal for local tax payers in my view. However, we still want to enable people to travel easily to and from their own homes and honour our commitment to make life better for them. "The new administration will therefore be seeking clarification from the Secretary of State for Transport as to what changes would be acceptable and we will then act upon that." |

Wind Turbine Proposal Severn Trent Water’s land at Stoke Bardolph Severn Trent Water will be holding a public exhibition to talk about the proposal to build up to 3 wind turbines on their land at Stoke Bardolph Farm, Nottingham. A public exhibition is to be held on: Friday 11th September between 3pm and 8pm at The Severn Trent Water Sports & Social Club, Stoke Bardolph. Members of the Severn Trent Water Energy Team will be available to answer any questions and receive feedback, there will also be a display of visuals on the location and design of the proposed wind turbines. The BJPC has received paperwork asking us to comment on the “scope of works” for any future planning application. This is considerations that need to be assessed including visual impact, wildlife, noise , air traffic and construction styles. A planning application has yet to be made but the 3 x 450ft wind turbines are proposed to be located next to the Poplars sports ground. The BJPC has significant concerns for this development 500yds from residential properties as the effect on the look of the village would be devastating. These are full height turbines equivalent to a 3 x 45 story block of flats on an area of green belt. We encourage all residents to look at the proposals and comment. |

Wind Turbines Wind Turbine Proposals at Burton Joyce/Stoke Bardolph. The BJPC has already received large numbers of communications regarding the proposed 450ft wind turbines on STWA land next to the Poplars. It is important to note this is not a planning application yet– it is a scoping report looking at all area of concern “mitigating circumstances” that need to be considered prior to an application. The BJPC will be discussing its plan of action at the October 6th Meeting 2009 and needs to canvas and reflect the views of its residents whether the a group meeting, poll or circular and then suggest an action plan. The most important thing is that the residents are accurately informed of the facts surrounding the proposal and then can make valued judgements an reflect those to the council who have powers to object to Planning Applications. The BJPC is a supporter of green activities which is demonstrated by it commitment to a new conservation are ain the Grove and approval of the maize CHP electricity generating at stoke Bardolph . However there are significant concerns about the colossal size of the 3x 450ft turbines within 450m of BJ houses which will cause a serious change to a village landscape as these represent the 15th largest building in the UK on a flat floodplain with visibility for miles.. Many of these views will be discussed on October 6th to assist in developing a strategy and further information will follow. If you have a comment on these contact us on windturbines@butonjoyceparishcouncil.org.uk or our usual contact address |

Severn Trent Water at Stoke Bardolph cowl noisy centrifuge fans after many complaints. STWA identified their centrifuge fans were causing noise heard as far as the top of Lambley Lane due to a peculiar sound transmission effect known as AM. STWA have acoustically deadened this noise. Further whining noise still remains with cooling fans at Chettles yard which can be heard most nights except Sundays. Further work will be done by BJPC to effect a noise reduction from these open air fans causing significant disturbance |
