Following 8 years of dedicated service to the Parish Council, Steve Cluff tendered his resignation at the last Full Council meeting, both as Chair and from the Council as a whole.

During his time at the Parish Council Steve has been instrumental in seeking grants and donations amounting to nearly £1m to develop the Roberts’ Recreation Ground, the Grove and the 3G pitch at the Poplars, all facilities enjoyed by many residents of the village. More recently he has given much of his time to the upgrade of the Old School Building, which now houses the Parish Office and offers room hire to community groups and individuals.

We would like to offer Steve our sincere thanks for the time and commitment given by him in this voluntary role. We wish him every success in his future challenges.

As a result of Steve’s resignation, we now have a new Chair, Cllr Paul Hyde and Vice-Chair, Cllr  Jeanette Johnson who we warmly welcome to their new roles on the Council.  To fill our previous vacancy we are also delighted to welcome Cllr Sarah Cook who brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in planning and other areas of council business.

Following Steve’s departure we have a further ‘Casual Vacancy’ to fill.  If after the statutory 2 week notice period no election has been requested, a new member may be co-opted to the Council.  If you are interested in becoming a councillor, please write to the Parish Clerk by February 4th at the latest indicating what skills you can bring to the Council. (To qualify you must be over 18, on the electoral register or have worked, owned /tenanted land or lived within a 3 mile radius of the parish for more than a year). You will then be asked to attend the Full Council meeting on February 6th to give a brief presentation, after which Councillors will be asked to vote to select a new Councillor. If you are interested in this position and would like to find out more, please contact the Parish Clerk or take a look at www.nalc.gov.uk/library/publications/801-good-councillors-guide/file
