We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who made this year’s Christmas Light Switch-on such a success. Hundreds of residents and visitors filled the streets to enjoy the seasonal celebrations. The afternoon started with carols from the village choirs, followed by a procession of pupils from Burton Joyce Primary School to the village centre with Peter and Angela the Donkeys. The crowds enjoyed festive music from Burton Joyce Community Brass Band and carols from the school children and Rebecca Lomas’ Academy of voice. The Alpacas were back for the third year at the Old School Building, with Windmill nursery also providing an array of Christmas crafts. Cakes and raffles were at the Carnarvon Rooms and street entertainment was provided by Dangerous Derek the fire-eating juggler! The Cross Keys gave up its car park for stall holders to provide food, drink and crafts as well as the fairground rides. The highlight of the evening was the arrival of Father Christmas aboard a Harley Davidson, escorted by 9 outriders from the Sherwood Chapter of the Harley Davidson Club. The Parish Council would like to thank its staff, councillors and all the volunteers who made such a great effort.
