A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this year’s ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ a success, despite the howling gales and pouring rain!!
There are some people who worked particularly hard, in difficult circumstances, to make our Festive Lights Switch On really special this year and deserve a mention:
- Richard Whitehead MBE for joining us to lead the big count-down
- John Jackson, STW Farms Manager for bring his big shiny, spectacularly blinged-up tractor as the star of the show!
- Roy Radford and riders from The Sherwood Chapter for bringing their fabulously decorated Harleys to lead the procession
- David Yates Engineering for adapting the tractor cage free of charge for Father Christmas and his Elves to ride safely to the village
- Trent Valley Councillors Sam Smith and Mike Adams for funding additional lights from their Communities Fund to build on our magnificent village centre display
- Tom Randall MP for joining the procession and supporting the event
- The Cross Keys Pub for the use of their carpark for the stalls and fair
- The Wheatsheaf Pub for use of their carpark to ease traffic congestion
- All the stall holders for braving the weather and pinning down their produce as long as possible in the high winds and rain
- Our local shops and cafes who stayed open and provided warmth, shelter food and drink
- Burton Joyce Brass, The Tuneless Choir and the Village Choir for providing excellent festive music
- Father Christmas and his 2 Elves for bravely climbing aboard the tractor
- Last but by no means least, the Parish Council staff, Chairman and Councillors who helped get everything set up, lit up and put away again!
