It is disappointing to have to report that the resurfacing of Main Street has been unavoidably delayed due essential safety work on the gas mains.
During the Christmas period there was significant disruption whilst the source of a gas leak was identified and repaired. The conclusion following further investigative works was that the whole stretch of gas mains pipe must be replaced. This work is programmed to begin in May this year and will inevitably lead to further disruption.
Following such major work on the road, the Parish Council has been advised that it will take at least 18 months for the ground to settle sufficiently for effective re-surfacing to take place. Both Nottinghamshire County Council’s Nicki Brooks and the Parish Council have been assured that this does not mean the work is cancelled, rather it has been postponed and will be programmed into the 2020/21 financial year.
Whilst this is not the news we were hoping for it is unavoidable and necessary for the safety of residents. Further updates will be provided as they are received from VIA East Midlands
