Funding approved for IMPROVED PLAYGROUND FACILITY in BURTON JOYCE
Children and families in Burton Joyce are set to get updated play equipment and newly installed all-weather pathways in the much-loved Roberts Recreation Ground thanks to a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.
The money, will be used to install a new, feature piece of play equipment in the centre of the park, along with additions and upgrades to the surrounding equipment. Footpaths will also be installed to make the playground more accessible to all, and possible to use all year-round.
Cllr Paul Hyde, Chair of Burton Joyce Parish Council believes the facility will make a huge difference to the lives of people living in the area. He says:
“This project will provide a real boost to the people of Burton Joyce. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our upgraded playground taking shape over the next few months, commencing in the autumn”.
FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

The impetus for this exciting new project comes from a ‘The Friends of Roberts’ Recreation Ground, who formed in 2019 to seek to raise funds and consult with users of the park to find out what improvements could be made to the playground. Burton Joyce Parish Council will be working in close partnership with the Group throughout.
Cllr Hyde hopes the new and improved playground will be ready to use by the end of October 2021.
